We Are Providing an Environment for Our Students to Grow & Excel

International Montessori School – Auburn sits on a beautiful 7 acre campus in Auburn, GA. complete with our very own garden, goats, sheep, rabbits, hens and even a butterfly house! We have taken every step to provide a beautiful environment at IMS – Auburn, in line with Maria Montessori’s vision of Casa dei Bambini. We have invested in an environment for your child that is rich in character and history, in order that we may nurture and educate the leaders of tomorrow.

Our Mission

What We Stand For

We believe children learn best when their senses are engaged and their independence is supported. Using Montessori Pedagogy as our guide, children at IMS – Auburn confidently explore their world using all five senses.

Our Vision

“Inspiring a Yearning for Knowledge”

Sapphires (Upper Elementary)
Upper Elementary and Junior High students learn core academics through the exploration of ideas, concepts and historical information that integrate one to another. This approach assists students in comprehending the abstract, rather than learning facts in isolation. Students feel more agency over their learning and they enjoy the process.

As social development becomes more prominent in this age group, students are led through experiences that support their moral and ethical development, while providing space for them to meet their fullest potential.

Rubies (Lower Elementary)

6 to 9 years

The Rubies Class (Lower Elementary) offers a continuum built on the Primary experience. The environment reflects the needs of children in the Second Plane of development

Jaspers (Primary)

 3 to 6 years

In our Primary classroom, we cultivate each child’s own natural desire to learn by allowing each child to experience the excitement of learning by his or her own choice rather than by being forced; and by helping the child perfect his or her natural tools for learning.

The six areas of the classroom are: Practical Life (independence- building skills), Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography, and Art.

Sunstones (Pre-Primary)

15 months to 3 years

In our Sunstones Classrooms, each child is exposed to experiences that are critical to his or her personality and intellectual development. Our prepared Montessori environment includes activities that are appropriate for the earliest stages of a child’s development. Children typically transition to Primary when they are toileting independently.

Areas of development include: Sensory and Perceptual development, Motor development, Self-Help Skills (including toileting), Language development, and Social/Emotional development.

Jades (Infants)

Ages 8 weeks to 15 months

In our Jades (infant) classroom, Infants receive emotional nurturing and an environment which promotes their very real need to learn (physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively)

Children walking independently and self-feeding transition to our toddler community.

A Message From

Our Founder

My name is Zaki Swaray-Rowe and I am originally from Sierra Leone, a small country on the west coast of Africa but have lived in Egypt, England and now The United States. I happened upon Montessori 20 years ago when looking for quality care for my 18-month-old son back in London, England. I decided to quit my job as an Assistant Accountant and start a Montessori school when I switched jobs and couldn’t find another Montessori school South of the River Thames that my son could attend.

I took formal Montessori training in London a year after I opened my first Montessori school in 1996. I have founded and run four other Montessori schools in Georgia since then, including Atlanta Montessori International School with the first Junior High Program in Atlanta. I am passionate about Montessori Education and believe that every child should have the opportunity to a Montessori Education. I am married with six children, all of whom went through Montessori. I love to read and travel the world discovering new places and ways of life.

I look forward to working with you and your families and thank you for trusting IMS – Auburn with the care and education of your child.

What Parents are Saying

“I currently have 4 children attending IMS – Auburn and I couldn’t be more pleased with the school. I cannot think of a better school to educate my children academically and socially, than IMS – Auburn!.”

“We’ve been at this precious school for almost four years and have enjoyed every moment! When I went out searching our community for an early education center for my first child I found myself heartbroken over most of the options. I wanted MORE than just a daycare. When I happened upon this little gem I immediately found peace in knowing that my child would be loved and cared for in a clean, safe environment with wonderful staff. Little did I know then that the education provided by their team would guide her in to a world of independence and passion for learning. My family has grown in the last four years and we now have three children attending IMS!…”

Alicia Bieder

“What a beautiful campus with animals, gardening, a playground, a sand pit and so much more. My son is so ecstatic about his new school and this mommy is more than pleased with all of the independence he is learning! The teachers and staff and even the other students are absolutely welcoming and helpful in every way”
